I'm a pretty avid Vosges fan and a very avid chocolate chip cookie fan, so this sounded like a dream come true. The chocolate in the cookies is indeed amazing, but it's the most expensive cookie I've ever paid for and unfortunately doesn't even break my top 10 from local bakeries in Chicago.
That is to say, if they decided to give this another by partnering with a better baker, I'd give it another try. Until then, I'd recommend giving these a pass, especially at their current price point.
I always jump on new Vosges Haut creations. My wife loves salted caramel and I love chocolate chip cookies so we were waiting for Katrina to create something like this.
Things started off bad. My order was delayed because of the demand for these cookies, even though I ordered these as soon as the invitation to order came out.
My 13 cookies arrived a week late. Cookies are individually wrapped, which seems like it is a waste of plastic. The cookies itself are bland with absolutely no texture. They lack the molasses and vanilla undertones I would expect on a chocolate chip cookie. Also, for a “salted caramel” these cookies lacked salt. I also wasn’t able to taste any caramel. Texture is mushy/spongey with no contrast of chocolate or crispy edges.
My biggest disappointment is calorie count and serving size. These are huge and come in at a whopping 560 calories per cookie. Serving size does state that a serving is 1/4 of a cookie, but who is going to break a cookie in fourths and then eat. This information not available when I purchased, and I probably would not have purchased as many or them at all had I known this. Also, it is recommended you eat the cookies within 7 days. I don’t know how the 2 of us will finish even half before they expire, and I don’t feel they are good enough to share with others.
Will not buy again.
They are nice sized, fairly flat and soft. One is enough by itself. They taste perfectly nice, but not so spectacular to me that it was worth the money and the shipping.
