From Darkness to Light: Discover Your Inner Starseed
Creating the Starseed Collection was guided by the very subject matter it focuses on. As our design director, Liz Kohrman, describes it, “The concept of Starseed can be a metaphor for the creative process, starting with a small idea and pursuing it until it grows into something of unimaginable beauty.”
Each collection we make is our pursuit to do just this; create something alluring for you or someone you want to share it with to enjoy.
We start our process by setting the vibe and working on the composition specs. Once we know how the product will physically take up space, we can illustrate and add all of the details. There is lots of back-and-forth in this stage, layering and editing, dreaming and doing. The design team works on everything from naming the product and everything found within to photographing it at its most yummy when everything is complete and ready to be delivered to you.
With the Starseed collection, we invite you down a road that beckons you to share a walk with family and friends and enter the majestic forest we’ve created. Pursue all of its winding paths slowly and take time to appreciate its magnificence.
The central character of our story box is the deer, who, in our imagination, is the spiritual King of the Forest. His antlers are his crown, and the branches of the trees illustrate all that nature has to offer.
This collection is a celebration of nature’s beauty in one box: the light, the stars, the trees, the mountains, the Viking, the owl guarding the tree in all its wisdom, and the deer above.
To this forest and these elements of wonder, we added textures, bit by bit and seed by seed.
Texture has made its way to all of our holiday packaging this season. You’ll find glitter, velvet flocking, foil, and William Morris’ designs all engaged to connect ideas and create a sense of “wow” every time you encounter one of our boxes.
The golden foil is our suggestion of the light through the trees and the twinkle in the branches. In between its leaves, the ingredients of what you will find inside the chocolates peek out at you. Because this is the holiday season when we celebrate abundance, we filled the tree to the brim because more is more, and there is no better time to indulge all the senses.
With every holiday collection, we set out to create something that will bring oohs and ahhs upon its reveal. It’s our greatest pleasure to make things that reach even further into our inspirations than the year before. Like cultivating the Starseed, we trust our process and know that if we trust, we can always get to the next level.
We’re always looking for a little bit of edge, that special magic and drama that will hit all the senses. Our objective is always to make something new and exciting yet still relatable. We want the visuals and tastes to give you small moments of beauty to appreciate—things that linger on the mind and the palette and bring you joy.
Our hope is that engaging with this extraordinary box sparks and inspires your own Starseed. Our wish is that we’ve succeeded in doing that for Holiday 2024, and we’re already in pursuit of that next small kernel or spark to reveal itself as the Starseed for 2025.
