    Legend has it that the candy cane dates back to 1670, when the choirmaster at the Cologne Cathedral in Germany, while guiding rehearsal for the Christmas pageant, devised a special distraction to keep the young singers occupied. He pulled a peppermint stick from the pocket of his robe, warmed it over a candle and bent it into the shape of a shepherd's hook. The children adored the candy canes and would hang them from the trees outside and imagine they were shepherds traversing the high hills.

A great holiday gift

I purchased these for some family friends along with some other chocolates and had them shipped, they loved the surprise and the chocolates. There was something for everyone in the family, I absolutely love receiving and gifting Vosges chocolates! All the holiday selections I gifted were amazing, I especially enjoyed the peppermint gnomes, it was magical for the kids. Not only are the chocolates the best I've had, but their creativity and gift selection are endlessly fun- I get excited to see whatever they're releasing next.

These tasty treats were amazing!! I especially loved being able to sneak one out of the freezer…put there for safe keeping but they didn’t last the 7 days once everyone knew they were there!
